BIRTHDAY BALL 2007
TWAS A NIGHT TO REMEMBER

November 10, 2007
The Gator Detachment's annual Marine Corps Birthday Ball was held at the Gainesville Garden Club. With more than 100 guests in attendance, the ceremonies began at 6:30pm.

In attendance was the Guest of Honor, Cpl Duane E. Dewey, a Marine whose gallantry during his tour in Korea in 1952 was recognized with the Medal of Honor.  (Pictured above with Marines Greg Williams and John Murdoch.)

Narrator/Chairman Greg Williams was the Master of Ceremonies, which included the reading of birthday messages from General LeJeune as well as General Conway.

A special tribute was given to the Marines who had fallen in battles throughout the history of our Corps.

As is tradition, the ceremonial cutting of the cake took place as the oldest and youngest Marines were recognized.

The ceremony was followed by a fine buffet dinner, catered by Boston Market. The evening was capped by dancing with music provided by a live DJ that kept everybody moving and having a great time.

Thanks to those who made it possible

Marine Greg Williams is to be commended for an excellent event.

There were a number of Marines, members and friends that provided support in one way or another which contributed to the success of the Ball.

To those, we say Thank You and Semper Fi.
