Due to the Marine Birthday falling on Sunday (Nov 10) and the 11th being Veterans' Day, there will be a USMC Birthday cake cutting ceremony in the Bed Tower of the Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville, on Archer Road. The cake cutting will take place at noon.
If you have questions, the Marine with information about it is Frederick Peterkin. He is a member of the Tri-County Detachment MCL but volunteers often at the VA Medical Center.
Gator 990 will have a tent at the annual Alachua Fall Street Festival. This is set up on Main Street in Alachua and is well attended by the community.
Our purpose is to show our support for the Alachua Community and to let them know that we are in the community, for those who were not aware.
Our tent setup will be at 8am, if anyone wants to help with setup. Every year there are a couple members like Jim and Vernon who stay there all day. If you have some time, come by to either keep them company or even give them a break.
Attire: red cover will suffice. If you want to wear a MCL uniform, you are welcomed to. But the red cover will be enough.
Questions: call Jim Yakubsin 222-8837.
The Board of Trustees and the Detachment Staff meet to receive reports, get updates on projects and set the agenda for the upcoming general meeting. The meeting is open to all members.
General monthly meeting of the Detachment. Social hour begins at 6:00pm.
There will be a covered dish during the social hour. The entree will be provided. Bring a dish to share if you wish. Take the time to get to know other members and get caught up with ones you know.
Business meeting begins at 7:00pm and ends at 8pm.
Come to find out what we are working on, what is coming up, and where you can help. Come to be part of our Marine Team.
