June Night Out At The Eagles - Steak Dinner, Friends and Birthday Cake
(June 11, 2010) On Friday, 11 June, Gator Detachment members gathered for a Steak Dinner at the Sunshine Eagles Club on NW 13th Street. We had 27 in our party as we spent a good bit of time visiting and telling big stories. Since organizer Kay Quinn could not be there (missed ya, Kay), Gwen Guzman stepped up to make sure things went right. Mike O’Brien and his wife Edie doubled as Eagles Board Members and Gator Det guests, so they were very helpful all night. Of course, the Club was represented by Jan Hukle and she was a great hostess, as always.
Scott DuPree and Mary Hildebrand had birthdays on the 11th and 12th, so it gave us reason to have a birthday cake and a song.
It was good to see Ralph and Eloise Lewis once again. They sat at the table with Ken Beasock and Beverly, and Phil and Chick Newman at what became The Colonels’ table. Birthday girl Mary Hildebrand also sat at their table along with three of her stuffed bears, one of which is also a Colonel.
There was recorded music during the dinner, but those who stayed on after dinner were entertained with live classic rock music from a group called Crooked Counsel.
